Their history: We began as a small artisan bakery located in the heart of Manhattan's Upper West Side. We first opened our doors on December 16, 1995. Levain Bakery was founded by Connie McDonald and Pamela Weekes. Because the bakery is a small neighborhood place, where everything is made on the premises, visitors are able to watch the entire production of all the breads and cookies.
